Frontier Airlines will now let loyalty members use miles to cover common extras, adding a practical redemption path on top of award flights. As of October 28, 2025, travelers can redeem Frontier Miles for three bundled tiers that package seat selection, baggage, and priority boarding. The new option starts at 2,000 miles and is live for bookings made on FlyFrontier.com, providing a predictable way to offset fees that usually add up on ultra-low-cost fares.

In a statement announcing the change, Frontier said members can redeem for Economy, Premium, or Business bundles. Economy starts at 2,000 miles and includes a carry-on, standard seat selection, and no change or cancel fees. Premium starts at 4,000 miles and adds premium seat selection with extra legroom. Business starts at 8,000 miles and layers on two checked bags up to 50 pounds each, a carry-on, no change or cancel fees, and UpFront Plus seat selection. UpFront Plus places you in the first two rows with a guaranteed empty middle seat for added space.

Frontier framed the move as part of its ongoing transformation under "The New Frontier," broadening how miles can be used. "This new redemption option gives FRONTIER Miles members more choice, more flexibility, and more value, from award flights starting at just 5,000 miles to bundles with bags, seats, and more starting at only 2,000 miles," said Bobby Schroeter, chief commercial officer. The carrier also highlighted other loyalty changes, including unlimited companion travel for top tiers and a forthcoming First Class seating product.

How it works

Award Bundles are redeemed in full, not à la carte, and are subject to availability by flight and date, with taxes and fees still payable in cash. Booking and changes for award travel must be handled directly with Frontier, and availability can vary by season, route, and demand. Travelers weighing cash versus miles should compare the bundle's cash price to the miles required, then apply their personal cents-per-mile valuation to ensure the redemption is a good trade.

What each bundle includes

Frontier's Economy bundle is the most basic, bundling a carry-on and standard seat selection with flexibility on changes and cancellations. Premium is for travelers who want more legroom; the airline defines premium seats as those with extra legroom, positioned ahead of standard rows. The Business bundle is the richest, adding two checked bags and access to UpFront Plus seating, which is limited to the first two rows with a blocked middle seat. These definitions matter because Frontier uses precise labels for seat types, and the extra space of UpFront Plus can materially improve comfort on longer domestic legs.

Why Frontier is doing this

Frontier has been rolling out loyalty and product changes through 2025 to attract higher-value customers without abandoning its low-fare model. Recent offers include status challenges with companion travel, and a Mastercard promotion that awards companion certificates for meeting spend thresholds. Packaging discretionary add-ons into mile-redeemable bundles simplifies choices at checkout, makes redemption more consistent than dynamic bag and seat fees, and encourages members to keep their miles within the ecosystem.

Traveler take

If you fly Frontier a few times a year, bundles can be a predictable way to cover the extras you were likely to buy anyway. The sweet spots are trips where you value a carry-on and a known seat, or when two checked bags plus an UpFront Plus seat meaningfully improve the experience. Always check the cash price of the same bundle against the miles cost and consider your own redemption floor. If you reliably get more value saving miles for flights, pay cash for the bundle. If the bundle's cents-per-mile comes out favorable, redeem miles and save cash for the fare itself.

Final thoughts

Frontier Miles can now buy bags, seats, and flexibility in a single click, starting at 2,000 miles. For many travelers, bundling extras with miles will be the simplest way to control costs on ultra-low-cost fares, especially when Business bundle availability lines up with UpFront Plus seating.
