Hawaii is changing it’s mind about leisure travel, again. There are more airlines disruptions causing issues for travelers, and we have some good news for travelers using TSA PreCheck and/or Clear.
Hawaii is open once again for leisure travel.
Ok, I know what you’re thinking. Hawaii was closed?
Well not really. In late August the Governor of Hawaii made a very public request for people to stay away from the island. This was a response to a spike in covid cases that was putting strain on their health care system.
Thankfully things have improved and the governor is now pushing for travelers to return for leisure travel starting November first.
Moving on to Air Travel news, one of the largest regional carriers in the U.S. has canceled hundreds of flights over the last two days. SkyWest, not to be confused with South West Airlines, canceled approximately 700 flights on Thursday, and so far today they’ve canceled around 400 flights.
The cancelations were the result of internal technical issues, currently SkyWest is working to resolve the issue to get flights moving again as quickly as possible.
SkyWest operates small regional flights for many major carriers such as American, United, Delta, Alaskan airlines and others.
Flying can be challenging and stressful, but there are things that can be done to reduce challenges. One option is using verified traveler services such as TSA PreCheck and Clear. And there is some good news for those using or thinking of using these services.
As of October this year applying for, or renewing TSA PreCheck is less expensive, having their price reduced form $85 to $70 for 5 years.
Clear is also continuing to expand it’s service offerings. For those Clear members traveling through Orlando International Airport you can now reserve a timed spot for Airport Security. This service is only available to members of the Clear service for expediting the document and identity portion of airport security and is currently only available in Orlando International Airport.
