Travel News: London Heathrow Airport, Eiffel Tower, and Princess Cruises

In Travel News for September 16th, 2022 we have updates from London Heathrow Airport, Paris, and Princess Cruises.

Heathrow Airport to Suspend Operations During Queens Funeral

London Heathrow Airport will suspend flights on September 19th to avoid noise disturbances during Queen Elizabeths II’s funeral.  This closure will affect about 15% of Heathrow’s schedule.  Airlines are notifying travelers that will be affected by the disruption.  Those traveling by air in Europe should be ready for delays, with France coming off a one day air traffic controller Strike and Hethrow temporarily going offline, among all the other Air Travel issues in the region, there isn’t a lot of extra capacity to respond to any unexpected issues.

Eiffel Tower to go Dark 1 Hour Early

The Eiffel Tower is an impressive sight, more so in the evening.  With lights glowing from within the tower itself to highlight the truly remarkable structure, viewing this iconic monument in the evening is a favorite of travelers.  Starting September 23rd travelers will have one less hour to enjoy this sight.  It’s been recently announced that the lighting of the Eiffel Tower will end one hour earlier in an effort to save energy.  And that’s not the only change, the City of Paris will require all municipal buildings too go dark at 10:00pm.  Public lighting will remain on to ensure the safety of travelers and local citizens within Paris.

Princess Cruise Expands their Fleet
