Travel News: Club Med, Virgin Voyages, and SouthWest Airlines

In Travel News for October 17th, 2022 we talk about a new referral program from SouthWest Airlines, a new Cruise program from Virgin Voyages, and Club Med Columbus is reopening.

Club Med Columbus to Reopen

Club Med Columbus, which is located on the San Salvador Island in the Bahamas, will be reopening on October 22.  The resort closed in November of 2021 due to pandemic related issues such as border restrictions and lack of healthcare and testing facilities on the island.  With the closing the resort underwent a comprehensive refresh and expansion which includes two new dining options, a refresh of the two story bungalow-style accommodations, and an updated wellness program which includes yoga, holistic spa treatments, and moonlight massages.

Virgin Voyages Offers Eat & Drink Month

Virgin Voyages has announced that this November will be the first-ever Eat & Drink Month aboard the Scarlet Lady and their newest ship the Valiant Lady.  The Cruise line has partnered with some of the top names in the food and beverage industry including award winning mixologies and Michelin star chefs.  Cocktail connoisseurs and foodies will be able experience specialty cocktails and menu items, elevated wine and dinner pairings, cooking demonstrations, and a sneak peek at the companies new menu coming in 2023.  To make sure that each guest is able to fully enjoy the experience the company is including a $300 bar tab for all November sailings.

SouthWest Airlines New Referral Program

SouthWest Airlines is looking to grow their corporate travel program by offering a generous referral bonus called the Refer a Company Initiative.  The program will allow those referring companies to the airline a bonus of 25,000 miles for each company referred, up to 5 companies.  The company referred must book travel through an appropriate channel for the referral to count.  This program is targeting small and mid-sized businesses that aren’t a part of the companies managed corporate travel program.
