In Travel News for October 25th, 2022 we talk about Celebrity Cruises, Walt Disney World, and a warning from an airline executive about the Holiday Travel season.
Celebrity Cruise Returns to Australia
930 days. That’s how long it’s been since a Celebrity Cruise ship visited Australia. That has recently changed. On October 22nd Celebrity sailed out of Sidney on a 12 night itinerary that will explore New-Zealand. This is the first of 17 planned sailings from Australia on the Celebrity Eclipse which carries up to 2,850 passengers. Some of the itineraries will include the Great Barrier Reef, visiting Melbourne, Adelaide, and Hobart and a few South Pacific itineraries. The last sailing in April of 2023 will be a transpacific sailing from Sydney to Honolulu. The Celebrity Edge will be making it’s Australian Debut in the fall of 2023.
Blizzard Beach Water Park Returns to Walt Disney World
Walt Disney World has recently announced that the popular Blizzard Beach Water Park will be returning on November 13th. The heated water park features arctic adventures included some inspired by the film Frozen. Blizzard Beach will have limited time offerings through December 31st to celebrate the holiday season which include themed treats, festive decorations, and there is word that Santa dressed for the tropical climate will be stoping by.
JetBlue Concerned Over Air Traffic Control Issues
As Air Travel returned in force this summer many airlines struggled to keep up with demand and JetBlue was as guilty as any other airline in that regard. However it now looks like JetBlue has it’s house in order, so to speak, but the airline is concerned about other areas causing flight disruptions during the busy Holiday Travel season. During the third quarter earnings call the President of the airline stressed that the air traffic control environment remains fragile, meaning staffing issues and other operational concerns remain in place. Instead of increasing routes, the airline is forced to keep pilots in reserve to respond to delays or cancelations. While things are improving its important for travelers to understand that there are still many potential failure points, such as air traffic control issues, that could cause flight delays and cancellations. We’ve been working with our clients to have plans in place incase of flight delays or cancellations and I encourage every traveler to do the same.
