In Travel News for January 27, 2023 we talk about Holland America Line expands sailings on the East Coast of the U.S., Air Travel to Mongolia, and American Cruise Lines in California.
The American Jazz Moves to California
American Cruise Lines has recently announced that they will be repositioning one of their newest riverboats, the American Jazz, from the Mississippi to California. The Jazz will be the first U.S. built riverboat in 80 years to sail overnight passengers throughout the bay and the California delta. Starting this February, the small-ship vessel will explore the San Francisco Bay, Wine Country and the agricultural communities of the surrounding valleys. Ticket are already on sale with special promotions for select sailings during the wave season.
U.S. and Mongolia Reach Open Skies Agreement
The United States and Mongolia have come to terms on an open-skies civil aviation agreement. This agreement will allow airlines from each country to fly without restrictions between the two countries. Also, carriers from each country would be permitted to overfly the other country, and airlines from the two countries could also enter into codeshare agreements. Code-sharing is a commercial agreement between airlines where a flight operated by one airline is marketed by one or more other airlines under a different flight number. This agreement must still be ratified by both countries before taking effect. The United States has open-skies agreements in place with over 130 nations.
Holland America Line Expanding 2024 in New England and Canada
Holland America Line is expanding its presence in Canada and New England, adding four more sailings in 2024. The longest sailing is a 24-day circumnavigation of Iceland, while other itineraries include 10-day voyages between Boston and Montreal, seven-day cruises between Boston, Montreal and Quebec, and seven-day cruises between Boston and Quebec City with weekend departures and overnight calls at Quebec City. The extra sailings will take advantage of the leaf viewing season later in October.
