Moselle River

The Moselle River has been an integral part of European travel and trade for centuries, offering a unique and scenic experience for those who journey along its banks. Meandering through Germany, Luxembourg, and France, the Moselle River is a fantastic destination for those looking for a relaxing yet stimulating getaway.

The most popular starting point for a River Cruise along the Moselle River is the romantic city of Coblenz, an ancient city in Germany along the Middle Rhine. From there, cruisers may follow the path of the Moselle River as it passes through charming, vineyard-laced countryside, converging with the Saar and Nahe Rivers near the German-French border.

At the German-France border, the Moselle River fans out and the landscape changes from the lush rolling hills of Germany to the lush, forested landscape of France. Cruisers will be sure to capture stunning views of the stunning rock formations along the route between Metz and Thionville, plus explore the beautiful town of Sarreguemines, known as the cradle of ceramics in France.

Continuing down the Moselle, travelers will be afforded breathtaking views of the tall cliffs that the river passes beneath, plus the many cozy towns that hug the slopes of the riverside. As travelers move past the city of Toul, they will find themselves in the heart of some of the top wine-growing regions of France, including Remiremont and Epinal.

Passing through friendly bottomlands until it reaches its primary tributary, the Meuse, travelers will delight in the rolling green hills and limestone cliffs that the meandering Moselle River provides. After rounding a bend in the river, travelers will soon reach the French-Luxembourg border, passing through the quaint cities of Grevenmacher and Schengen, each with beautiful landscapes and vibrant histories.

Finally, travelers will reach the Eistediff City, where the Moselle River will make its way towards the German border, passing through some of Luxembourg’s most beautiful countryside along the way. Those who continue on to Germany will eventually find themselves back in the cobbled streets of Coblenz, where they can take advantage of the numerous cultural sites, charming shops, and delicious restaurants that the region has to offer.

There is no other experience like a journey along the Moselle River, and it’s the perfect destination for those who want to experience the sheer beauty and tranquility offered by Europe’s most serene running waters. With lush Vineyards, centuries-old architecture, and charming little villages, while on a River Cruise, travelers can look forward to relaxing, sightseeing, and exploring. So take a boat ride down the spectacular Moselle River on your next European vacation and be sure to create lasting memories along the way!
