When will Broadway return, what’s that in New York City, and is there any good news for Cruise passengers?
There has been a lot of debate over what would signify a board way return, Sure the Boss played there in late June, and a few shows have reopened. But many were left wondering if this is what the return of Broadway looks like?
But there is no denying that when three powerhouse shows reopen at the same time, that Broadway is truly back! And that’s exactly what happened. In early September “The Lion King”, “Hamilton”, and “Wicked” returned to New York City. These three powerhouse anchors were also joined by the long running “Chicago” musical. So it’s official, Broadway is back.
Since we are talking about New York I think it’s worth mentioning that Virgin Voyages first ship, the Scarlet Lady has recently arrived in the Big Apple. It will spend about a week there, playing host to the press as well as hosting a Music Festival before repositioning to Miami for Caribbean sailings this October.
Another interesting development in the Cruise world is the recent announcement by Carnival Corp. They are partnering with Quest Diagnostics to provide pre-cruise COVID testing. Heading into the fall we are already seeing testing numbers increase, which is making it more difficult to get a COVID test within the limited timeframe required. This partnership should make getting tested easier and more accessible. This applies to Carnival Cruise Line, The Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, and Seaboun.
