COVID Updates from the CDC & St. Lucia, and an Update from Las Vegas

In travel news for April 5, 2022 we have COVID updates from the CDC and Saint Lucia, and an update on The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

This week the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have lowered the warning against travel to 14 destinations.  These destinations have been down graded to the “Level 3” designation, which means the destination is considered a “high” level for COVID transmission.  The destinations downgraded include popular populq4 such as Canada, Belize, Grenada and Saint Lucia.

The Caribbean island of Saint Lucia has removed it’s pre-entry COVID testing requirement for fully vaccinated travelers.  Additionally they have suspended the requirement that travelers must pre-register online before arrival.  Vaccinated travelers must provide proof of full vaccination while checking into the flight to avoid the testing requirement, unvaccinated travelers will still need to provide a negative PCR test taken within 5 days of arrival.  Travelers that arrive without proof of vaccination, or proof of a negative test will be required to test and quarantine at their own expense, until results are available.

Reservations for the reopening of The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas opened today.  The Palms officially opens it’s doors to travelers on April 27.  The resort underwent a $690 million dollar renovation which began in 2019.  The resort has 766 guest rooms and suites, numerous bars and live entertainment venues, a 95,000 square foot casino, a 14 screen cinema, and even a wedding chapel.  The resort also features 2 main pools and 39 cabanas, many of which have their own smaller pool.
