In travel news for June 16, 2022 we talk about the Bahamas, Viking Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line.
Bahamas Eases Restrictions
The Bahamas has recently announced that as of June 19th travelers to the Caribbean island will no longer be required to apply for a Bahamas Travel Health Visa to gain entry. Pre-departure testing is still required, the process is the same for both vaccinated as well as unvaccinated travelers. To enter the Bahamas you will need to present a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours of departure. Masks are still required in all public places on the island.
Viking Cruise Eliminates Pre-Departure Testing
Viking Cruises recently announced that they are eliminating the pre-voyage covid testing, when not required by a destination. This makes Viking the first cruise line to eliminate this pandemic protocol. Viking is still recommending that passengers get tested 3 days before their cruise. Viking will also be eliminating daily on-board covid testing, however there will be medical personnel available to provide testing if a passenger shows symptoms. Viking does require that all passengers and crew be fully vaccinated.
Carnival Cruise Line Relaxes Restrictions
Carnival Cruise Line is easing COVID protocols for unvaccinated travelers sailing in the Caribbean. The current change will eliminate the need for a doctors note to be provided for unvaccinated passengers seeking a medical exemption for vaccination. Unvaccinated travelers are required to apply for a medical exemption as well as providing a negative covid test before boarding. It’s important to note that even though applying for a medical exemption is now easier on Carnival, there is no guarantee it will be granted by the cruise line.
