In travel news for August5th, 2022 we talk about American Airlines cutting flights, the return of Oktoberfest, and a new promotion from Holland America Line.
American Airlines Cuts Fall Schedule
It’s been a difficult year for Air Travel, in an effort to offer better service airlines are now looking to cut their fall schedules. American Airlines is the latest airline to announce such cuts, reducing their September schedule by 2% and their October schedule by almost 5%. On the surface this might sound like bad news, but it’s actually good news for flyers. The airlines aren’t reducing staff, they are reducing flights. This means they have extra capacity for if or when a problem occurs. This extra capacity should allow American Airlines to offer better service with less cancellations or delays.
Oktoberfest Returns
After two years of cancellations Germany has announced that their annual Oktoberfest festival would be retuning this fall. Scheduled to kickoff on September 15th and run to October 3rd in Munich, Germany, there will be almost 500 vendors taking over the city for the duration of the festival. The vendors will include beer breweries, restaurants, wine vendors, and many more. Oktoberfest will be enjoyed this year without any pandemic restrictions. It’s not yet known what kind of attendance the event will have this year, before the pandemic Oktoberfest had an annual estimated attendance of about 6 million people.
