Travel News: Global Entry, MSC Cruises, and Disney Cruise Line

In travel news for August 29th, 2022 we talk about the continuing Global Entry application delays, MSC Cruises new health and safety protocols, and the return of a popular program to Disney Cruises.

Global Entry Applications Delayed

Global Entry, the popular trusted traveler program that allows those returning to the United States expedited entry though eligible U.s. customs locations, is continuing to see unusually high demand.  Because of this continued surge in demand the program is taking longer to complete, some applicants have completed the process within six months, however delays are pushing many applicants to see upwards of 18 months.  One of the biggest problems is pandemic related capacity limitations at interview centers   There are two ways to potentially bypass the long wait.  The first is the utilize the Enrollment on Arrival option if you planning on traveling internationally in the near future.  The other is to expand the search for an interview center well beyond your usual range.

MSC Cruises Updates Health & Safety for Caribbean Sailings

Cruise lines are continuing to revise their health a safety protocols, the most recent being MSC Cruises who announced that as of September 1st they will no longer be requiring full vaccination for passengers sailing from the United States to the Caribbean.  Unvaccinated travelers will still be required to provide a negative covid test taken within three days to embarkation.  Proof of vaccination is required to bypass the testing requirement.  As with all cruise lines, these rules are subject to any ports visited during the sailing, so if you’re planning on taking a cruise without being fully vaccinated defiantly utilize a Travel Advisor to better understand what options are available.

Character Meet & Greet Back on Disney Cruise

One of the most magical experiences on a Disney Cruise is the character meet and greet.  This popular program was suspended during the early days of the pandemic, and as cruses slowly made a return the Character Meet and Greet did not.  That is until now, starting today, August 29th the Character Meet and Greet is back across the entire Disney Cruise Line fleet.  And some more good news, starting September 2nd children under the age of 12 will no longer be required to be vaccinated to enjoy a Disney Cruise.  Unlike other cruise lines Disney still requires all passengers over the age of 12 to be fully vaccinated.
