Lufthansa Experiences Pilot Strike
Staffing shortages aren’t the only issue affecting travelers, union strikes have been causing an ever increasing problem for airlines and travelers alike. Lufthansa Airlines, having failed to reach an agreement with the pilots union is facing a one day strike. As of Thursday evening over 800 flights have been canceled, affecting and estimated 130,000 travelers. The strike is primarily affecting those traveling through Lufthansa’s Munich and Frankfurt hubs in Germany. However disruptions such as these have a tendency to ripple out across an airlines entire operation.
Carnival Cruise Line Creates a Hard Seltzer
Those who have traveled on Carnival Cruise Line might have noticed a unique beer brand ThirstyFrog. This brand is Carnivals own and it first debuted in 2011 with ThirstyFrog Red, an amber ale. Carnival has expanded the beer styles a few times and now is diversifying their exclusive, in-house brand with a vodka based hard seltzer available in two flavors, Pina colada and berry hibiscus. The new seltzer is available across the entire Carnival fleet.
Emirates Begins Ambitious Refresh
Starting in November Emirates will be undertaking a massive, multi-billion dollar, fleet wide upgrade of the interior cabins of both their Boeing 777 and as well as their Airbus A380 aircrafts. The goal is to complete 4 aircraft from start to finish each month. Emerates operates 67 of the Airbus and 53 of the Boeing aircrafts. No other airline has attempted an in-house refresh of this size and scope before. With more events such as the World Cup taking place in the region the Middle East is quickly emerging as a desired travel destination, and it seems Emirates plans to continue being the premier airline for the region.
