In Travel News for October 4th, 2022 we talk about a new offer from Oceania, Heathrow’s capacity limits, and Morocco’s entry restrictions.
Morocco Drops Entry Restrictions
Morocco has recently removed the last of their pandemic travel restrictions. Travelers to Morocco will no longer need to provide proof of vaccination or proof of a negative covid test to enter the country. Even though restrictions have been removed there are still requirements for those visiting. Travelers will need to complete a health form before entering. The form is basically a way for the government to handle contract tracing. The government is still running random covid antigen tests at international airports, and travelers could be required to provide a PCR test result 48 hours after arrival. So while the country has moved closer to a pre-pandemic normal, it’s not quite there yet.
London Heathrow Airport Drops Capacity Limits
London Heathrow AIrport introduced capacity limits in July of this year, then later extended them through October. The airport limited departures to 100,000 passengers daily in an effort to control throughput to a level that could be managed by current staffing. Heathrow, like many airlines and airports throughout the world has been facing staffing shortages. It looks like things have improved for Heathrow since July, the airport has recently announced that they will be eliminating capacity limits later this month. This is good news for travelers in the United Kingdom and throughout Europe as Heathrow is a major international hub. Having Heathrow running at full capacity should help alleviate some of the supply constraints caused by other airports extending their capacity limits, such as Amsterdams Schiphol International Airport which recently extended their limits through March of next year.
