Travel News: World Cup, Hawaii Volcanos, and More UK Travel Headaches.

In Travel News for October 28th, 2022 we talk about the World Cup, volcanic activity in Hawaii, and more travel headaches in the United Kingdom.

Qatar and Saudi Arabia Make Changes for the World Cup

In time for the World Cup,  Qatar will be dropping most of their pandemic related travel restrictions.  Travelers entering the country will no longer need to register in advance, provide a negative covid test pre or post arrival, or provide proof of vaccination.  Qatar isn’t the only country making changes ahead of the world cup.  Saudi Arabia will be offering a Travel Visa, free of charge, to attendees of the world cup in an effort to inspire travelers to explore the neighboring country.

Volcanic Activity in Hawaii

The Island of Hawai’i, also known as Hawaii’s Big Island, is home to the worlds largest Volcano by mass.  Known as Mauna Loa, the volcano has been largely inactive since it’s last eruption in 1984.  That might be about to change.   A recent spike in Earthquake activity at the volcanos summit is causing concern.  Historically seismic activity has been accompanied by volcanic unrest.  Volcanologists have said that there is no signs on an imminent eruption, but residents have been warned by the local government to be ready just incase.  So what does this mean for travelers?  Don’t cancel your Hawaiian vacation just yet, but I would encourage you to consider Travel Insurance for your trip, just incase.  Need help finding a travel insurance?  Give us or your Travel Advisor a call.

More Rail Strikes in the  United Kingdom

Traveling by Train in the United Kingdom is a fantastic way to get around, when it’s available.  Throughout the summer workers strikes made travel by rail difficult to impossible and it’s not over yet.  Various unions that represent rail workers have voted to authorize three more strike dates, this time on November 5th, 7th, and 9th of November.  In a separate strike London Underground and Overground workers will be striking on November 10th.  These strikes will cause additional demand for car, bus, and even shorter regional flights.  If you are traveling in the United Kingdom on these days, plan accordingly.
