In Travel News for December 7th, 2022 we talk about upcoming strikes affecting travel to the United Kingdom, a new law that will affect non-married travelers visiting Indonesia, and JetBlue’s new loyalty program.
JetBlue Introduces Updated Loyalty Program
JetBlue Airways is the most recent airline to update it’s loyalty program. The airline has introduced new ways to earn points and status for those in their TrueBlue program. The new system will use a “tile” method to track a travelers progress as they work towards Mosaic status. For every 10 tiles earned a traveler will be able to choose a reward. The rewards include expedited security lanes, group b boarding, onboard drinks, a 5,000 point bonus, or a double points bonus. Once 50 tiles have been earned the traveler will gain the first tier of Mosaic status. Tiles can be earned for every $1,000 spent on the JetBlue credit card, or for every $100 spent on qualifying hotel rooms. The new loyalty system will go into effect in the spring of 2023.
Indonesia Outlaws Sex & Cohabitation
Indonesia has recently banned sex outside of marriage. This applies to residents as well as travelers. Ands that’s not all, cohabitation before marriage has also been outlawed. Violation of these new law carries a sentence of up to one year in prison. The law will go into effect in three years time. During the next three years the country will work out the details of these new laws both for residents as well as for the tourism industry as a whole. If you aren’t married and want to visit Bali, or really anywhere in Indonesia, with your significant other you better do so within the next three years.
More Strikes to Affect Travel to the U.K.
In yet another hit to European travel this holiday season Border Force workers at many of the busiest airports in the United Kingdom will go on Strike over the busy holiday season. The airports affected include London Heathrow, Gatwick Airport, Birmingham Airport, Cardiff Airport, Glasgow Airport, Manchester Airport, as well as the Port of New Haven. Almost 3,000 workers will go on strike between December 24th and December 26th, and again between December 28th to December 31st. While the United Kingdom is not part of the European Union, it is a popular connection point for international flights. So this will ripple out from the U.K. to other parts of Europe.
