UK Travel Alert: Strikes Impacting Airports and Ports - What You Need to Know
Travelers planning to visit the United Kingdom in the coming months should be aware of potential disruptions due to strikes. UK Border Force staff staged a walkout on March 15th, resulting in longer wait times at UK border control. Further disruptions may occur during the Easter break in April, as members of the Unite union are considering strike action at London Heathrow Airport. The strikes are part of wider civil service worker actions over pay, jobs, and working conditions. Government workers and military personnel have been trained to carry out border checks during the strikes, a move that has faced criticism for potentially jeopardizing safety.
