In travel news for May 1st, 2023 we talk about a month of Music coming to New Orleans this fall.
New Orleans & Company, in collaboration with local organizations, music festivals, and business leaders, has announced the first-ever New Orleans Music Month. Set to take place in October, the month-long celebration will promote the city's vibrant music scene, culture, and technology. In addition to supporting the music scene throughout the year, New Orleans & Company is also introducing a new music industry conference, NOLA MusiCon, scheduled for October 24-27, 2023.
NOLA MusiCon aims to educate artists and other music industry professionals while showcasing New Orleans as a thriving destination for the music business. The conference will feature informative panels, inspirational interviews with industry professionals and thought leaders, interactive demonstrations, one-on-one mentor sessions, live performances, and extensive networking opportunities.
New Orleans Music Month will also include the return of the annual celebration of music venues, NOLAxNOLA, running from September 28 to October 8, 2023. Additional marquee events include the Crescent City Blues & BBQ Festival (October 13-15) and NOLA Funk Fest (October 20-22), which will also announce The Louisiana Music & Heritage Experience—a new 120,000-square-foot museum to be constructed near the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
The New Orleans Music Economy (NOME) initiative was established following the passage of the Quality Music Company payroll tax incentive in 2017, aiming to grow the local music industry. NOME commissioned a year-long study, resulting in a 30-pronged plan to expand the music industry in New Orleans. The plan includes a major marketing campaign, development of a music industry hub, business development outreach efforts, support for a significant music conference and industry incubator, and facilitation of networking, mentorship, and financial assistance opportunities.
New Orleans Music Month promises to be an exciting time for both visitors and locals, offering a unique opportunity to experience and support the thriving music scene in the city.
