Paris-Orly Airport (ORY)

Paris-Orly Airport, or ORY, is the largest international airport in France and the 12th busiest in Europe. It serves as a major hub for passengers traveling to and from the French capital, located just 16 kilometers (9.9 miles) away. Built in 1932, the airport was initially called Villeneuve Orly Airport and was France's first commercial airport until the opening of Orly Sud in 1959. ORY is renowned for its wide selection of destinations and the great connections it offers passengers to all points of the globe.

Management of the airport is entrusted to Aeroports de Paris, whose mission is to ensure that passengers have an enjoyable and effective experience at ORY. Though Paris-Orly is known for its international scope, it is also dedicated to providing travelers with an exceptional domestic flight selection. ORY offers direct flights to and from nearly 80 French destinations, including Nice, Bordeaux and Toulouse.

Once you’ve touched down at ORY, you’ll find a wealth of options for transportation into the city. Buses and shuttles depart from the airport every 10 minutes, shuttling passengers to the city center for around 11 euros (roughly 13 USD). You can also take the RER B trains or access a wide selection of taxi services available at the airport, both of which offer an easy way to reach downtown Paris.

If your visit to the French capital is only a short one, ORY has a convenient selection of hotels located close to the airport. From options like the Novotel and Ibis to more luxurious boutique hotels, travelers can easily find a room that meets their needs and suits their budget.

In addition to its transportation and accommodation options, ORY also offers a variety of services and amenities to improve the quality of your journey. The bustling shopping centers provide a great opportunity to pick up treats for friends and family or to grab a souvenir of your Parisian visit. You can also take advantage of the numerous play areas and quiet zones if you’re traveling with children, as well as the variety of restaurants and cafes available at the airport.

Whether you’re in Paris for a short stopover or a longer stay, Paris-Orly Airport is an easy and efficient way to get you where you need to go. With its wide range of transport and accommodation options, excellent selection of shops and eateries, and convenient location, ORY is well-equipped to accommodate all types of travelers. When you’re next looking for a flight to the French capital, consider a trip to Paris-Orly for an enjoyable and stress-free journey.
