Travel News: Hawaii, Royal Caribbean, and Israel

Hawaii continues to adjust how it's dealing with travelers during the pandemic, Royal Caribbean announces new testing procedures, and Israel has added more countries to it's sever Travel Warning list.

Hawaii

Officials in Hawaii have recently approved a plan to reduce the number of tourists on the island of Oahu.  The Hawaii Tourism Authorities new plan aims to manage the number of tourist accommodations, change land use and zoning, review airport policies, manage visitors use of cars, and creates a “regenerative tourism” fee that supports environmental resources.  The primary goal of this plan is to placate local residents who have been unhappy with the massive influx of visitors.  Tourism officials are worried that unhappy residents will create an uncomfortable environment for visitors.

Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean International will require all passengers over the age of 2 to present a negative covid test before boarding.  This change applies to sailings with a duration of 5 nights or longer and includes sailings within US waters.  Royal Carribean will accept either a PCR or Antigen test and testing must be done no more than 3 days before boarding.

Israel

Israel has listed the United States, France, Italy, Germany, Greece and several other countries under a sever Travel Warning.  In total 18 countries are now listed.  Under this order travelers visiting Israel from one of the listed countries will be required to isolate for a minimum of seven days, even if they have been fully vaccinated or have recently recovered from COVID.
