As travel continues to rebound there's some exciting news from United Airlines, Jamaica, and Royal Caribbean.
As we continue to see travel resuming world wide United Airlines recently announced a massive transatlantic expansion starting next year. The airline is adding routes to cities in Jordan, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and the Spanish Canary Islands. United will also be resuming 7 routes that were interrupted by covid including destinations in India, Germany, and France. And they will also be increasing the number of flights to popular destinations such as Berlin, Dublin and Milan. When these flights start next year United Airlines will have more coverage to Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and India then any of it’s competitors.
In Caribbean news Jamaica is continuing to see strong tourist demand. So much so that American Airlines is moving from the 737 to the 787 Dreamliner to move more passengers between the US and Montego Bay.
And American isn’t the only airline experiencing increased demand to the island. Officials from South West Airlines have recently said that flights into Montego Bay, Jamaica are are very close to their pre-pandemic record level.
Jamaica was one of the first Caribbean countries to open to tourists, opening in June of 2020. While covid was a challenge for Jamaica, they implemented many safety measures including limiting tourism to resilient corridors as well as testing requirements pre-arrival.
