Travel News: Fiji, Aruba, and Turks and Caicos

In travel news for April 29, 2022 we have COVID travel restriction updates from Fiji as well as Turks and Caicos, and I talk about an interesting promotion from Aruba.

Fiji Eases Travel Restrictions

The lovely South Pacific island of Fiji is making travel a little easier.  Starting Sunday, May 1, fully vaccinated travelers will no longer be required to provide a pre-departure negative COVID test.  Only fully vaccinated travelers are allowed onto the island. All travelers will be required to book an in-country rapid COVID test prior to departing, and have the test completed no more then 72 hours after arriving.  Visitors to Fiji are also required to have a trusted Travel Insurance that includes COVID coverage.

Aruba to Pay Your Luggage Fees

Aruba is launching a new promotion to attract more visitors.  Tourism officials recently announced the “Lose Your Baggage” promotion.  Potentially misleading name aside, the programs goal is to help pay for the luggage fee’s for visitors.  Running through May 31, a traveler that submits their upcoming itinerary, flight confirmation, or other accepted documentation proving a trip is eminent, will be eligible to receive a $60 visa gift card to help cover baggage fee’s.  On March 19th Aruba dropped the requirement for proof of vaccination or proof of a ‘pre-departure negative COVID test to gain entry.  Aruba still requires an embarkation/disembarkation card to be filled before arrival, and all travelers are required to have Aruba’s visitors insurance.

Turks and Caicos Easing Entry Restrictions

Good news for those traveling to the Caribbean islands of Turks and Caicos.  It was recently announced that entry restrictions will be eased starting Sunday, May 1.  Travelers to Turks and Caicos will no longer be required to complete the pre-visit registration.  Also fully vaccinated travelers will no longer be required to provide a pre-arrival negative covid test or proof of Travel Insurance.  Easing of travel requirements comes at a good time, many events will be returning after a long hiatus including the. Very popular Island Fish Fry, the South Caico Regatta, the grand Turks TI Summerjam, and the Race for the Conch, to name just a few.
