Seabourn Expedition Ships Partner with Starlink: Revolutionizing Connectivity at Sea

In travel news for May 15th, 2023 we talk about Seabourn Cruise Line partnering with SpaceX for a serious onboard wifi upgrade.

Passengers aboard Seabourn's expedition ships can now enjoy enhanced Wi-Fi connectivity, thanks to a new partnership with Elon Musk's StarLink. Seabourn Venture, the first ship in the fleet to feature the improved internet service, is now offering this next-generation Wi-Fi to its 264 passengers. Its sister vessel, Seabourn Pursuit, will also be equipped with Starlink Wi-Fi upon its launch in August.

Lynn Narraway, Seabourn's Vice President of UK and Europe, emphasized the importance of providing reliable internet access to passengers, many of whom work during their voyages. The partnership with StarLink, a leader in low earth orbit satellite technology, ensures that guests can stay connected even in remote destinations.

The benefits of satellite internet, like that provided by StarLink, extend to various types of cruises, including small ship cruises, luxury cruises, and expedition cruises.

For small ship cruises, which often navigate less-traveled routes and remote locations, satellite internet offers a valuable lifeline to the outside world. As these cruises typically have fewer passengers on board, reliable Wi-Fi can be a significant selling point, attracting both leisure and business travelers.

Luxury cruises, known for their exceptional amenities and personalized services, can further enhance their guests' experience by providing high-speed, reliable internet access. As luxury cruise passengers expect the highest standards of comfort and convenience, satellite internet connectivity becomes an essential offering, ensuring seamless communication and entertainment options throughout their journey.

Expedition cruises, which venture to the farthest reaches of the globe, also stand to benefit from satellite internet. These adventures often take passengers to remote, off-the-beaten-path destinations where traditional internet connectivity is limited or nonexistent. With Starlink's satellite technology, expedition cruise passengers can share their experiences in real-time, stay in touch with family and friends, and access important information during their voyage.

By partnering with StarLink, Seabourn is setting a new standard for internet connectivity at sea. As demand for reliable Wi-Fi grows among Cruise passengers, satellite internet technology like Starlink's is poised to transform the cruising experience for small ship, luxury, and expedition cruises alike.
